Very tall plant bearing yellow flower heads with large leaves. The common name refers to the plants deeply incised leaves, which tend to be oriented in a north-south direction. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Blooms June through September. A true prairie plant with very long taproots. Slow growing, but once established a plant can live up to 100 years! Height: up to 8′.
Seedlings come in 3 1/8″ bio-degradable pots.
A word about native plants: perennial plants, often with deep roots. Transplant them carefully as they dislike root disturbance. They are slow growing, and will not flower until the second year or later.
